There are TWO giant chairs in Gardner. We have one here at our store and factory and there is another one at 130 Elm Street in Gardner, Mass.
Both GIANT chairs are listed on the website www.Roadsideamerica.com
Their website is an online guide to Offbeat Tourist Attractions & Oddities.
Their website lists our chair under "Gardner, Massachusetts -
Huge Yellow Chair". One quote from a vistor said: "Huge Yellow Chair
I visited the huge yellow ladderback chair in front of Chair City Wayside Furniture Company in Gardner, Massachusetts. It looks to be at least 2 stories tall. Great to take a picture with. It is a very bright yellow. It is right at the store where you can buy chairs and bar stools. It is easy to get to. We were there on a Saturday and they were weaving a seat. [Katie, 03/24/2010]"
The city of Gardner in Massachusetts is called the Chair City. It was once home to Heywood Wakefield, Nichols and Stone, Gem Industries, S Bent Brothers, G. Bent, Collier-Keyworth Company, Conant Ball Company, P. Derby & Company, Greenwood Associates (where our factory is today) and many more factories. Heritage State Park in Gardner is an interesting place to visit to learn about the history of our city. It highlights the rich history of silversmithing and furniture making in Gardner. Gardner just celebrated their 225th Anniversary in 2010.
